The research about COVID-19 and pregnancy is constantly evolving. Visit Evidence Based Birth for the latest research updates, public health recommendations, and resources.
Both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend all people over the age of 12 receive the Covid-19 vaccine, including those who are pregnant, body feeding, or are attempting to become pregnant. If you choose to get a COVID-19 vaccine during your pregnancy, considering registering for the v-safe pregnancy registry. This data can help people understand about the safety of COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy.
If you have any concerns about COVID-19 symptoms or exposures, we recommend getting tested.
Rapid tests, also known as antigen tests, are convenient to have on-hand but are not as accurate as PCR tests. Many Washington households can order up to 10 free rapid tests each month. Check your eligibility and order here. U.S. residents can also order a limited number of tests through the postal service here.
PCR tests are much more accurate than rapid tests but may be less convenient. Here are a few resources to find PCR tests near you:
Have you gotten a positive test result? Please let your midwife know right away and follow all CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines.

COVID-19 or not, we accept transfers of care at any point in pregnancy! Our small team of midwives and long appointments mean that we can get to know you and your preferences no matter how late you transfer to our care. We've had a first visit with someone as late as 41 weeks!
Systemic racism has led to COVID-19 disproportionately affecting BIPOC communities. We are committed to doing our part to slow the spread of this virus and strengthen the health of all communities.
Lizz and Elliott are dedicated to helping area midwives and their communities respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been actively working with both the Midwives Association of Washington State (MAWS) and the Washington State Midwifery COVID-19 Response Coalition (WSMCRC) during the COVID-19 pandemic and have helped to draft COVID-19 interim guidelines, policy manuals, and updated cleaning protocols.
